Above the Net Summer Camp

About the Camp

The Ottawa Fusion Above the Net Volleyball Camp takes a holistic approach toward, long-term, athletic development.  Our program is designed around an "AthleteB4Player" approach that values general athleticism over specific skill development.  With that in mind, we build activities and training sessions with a multi-sport / physical literacy approach. Furthermore, we recognize the value and importance of character education and sportsmanship as critical attributes in athletic development.  Last but not least, we recognize that sport and physical activity are meant to be fun.  We take every step we can to ensure that each and every camper enjoys our program and develops a deeper love of our game.

Camp Head Coach

Travis Wing

Travis has been the Head Coach of the Above the Net program for each of the past four years.  A teacher at Longfields-Davidson Heights Secondary School, Travis has been coaching their competitive volleyball programs for the past 9 years.  In each of the past 5 years, he has coached the senior boys team to qualifications for OFSAA provincial championships and consecutive AAA City of Ottawa Championships. Travis also coaches the grade 7/8 programs and the Junior Boys programs.

Outside of Volleyball, Travis pursues several opportunities around student leadership and character development. He is the co-director the Ottawa Based Non-Profit Organization "ManUp" which works to support young men in developing a healthy sense of masculinity while also working towards building safer spaces for the young women in the city.
The combination of Travis' experience in coaching and playing volleyball at various levels and his commitment to character education has helped us create a camp program that is sure to create a lasting and positive impact on all who attend.

Camp Refund and Cancellations

  1. We provide an 80% reimbursement if cancellation is requested more than one week prior to the start of the camp (this gives us some time to replace the participant).
  2. No reimbursement if cancellation is less than one week before the start of the camp or during the camp (participants on our waiting list are no longer available, and we cannot find replacement).
  3. We will reimburse 80% of the remaining days if participant becomes sick or is injured (with doctor's certificate).

Note: In the event that we have fewer than 12 campers registered, we may be forced to cancel the camp.  (Full refunds at that time)
We will confirm with all registered campers once the minimum is reached.
