We are currently in the process of conducting athlete evaluations.  Final athlete selections are scheduled to be completed by June 14th.

NOTE: Only athletes who have completed their athlete profile prior to May 31st as part of their virtual tryout in our Google Classroom are being considered for available roster spots at this time.


Athletes selected to be a part of the clubs COMPETE Beach program will be working with our lead Head Coaches Jay Mooney and Sam Ojie throughout the season in addition to a number of University athletes who will work as assistant coaches.

Jay and Sam are revered among the coaching community as two of the most impactful coaches in our sport.

Their training session provide clear objectives and outline a process needed to accomplish each of them.  They are masters at creating an environment where athletes feel empowered to take risks and embrace the many obstacles along the way.


The cost associated with being a member of the COMPETE Beach program are expected to be as follows:

Paid to FUSION upon accepting a roster spot is expected to be between $550-$580. This fee covers the following: 
- On Court Training (14 Weeks)
- 2 Game Tank Tops
- Practice Shirt
- Baseball Cap
- Cinch Sack Beach Bag

Additional Costs paid by athletes directly to the OVA and VC:
* We require every athlete to commit to playing a minimum of 3 OVA events so that they qualify for provincial championships

- OVA Beach Recreational Player
membership ($12.91)
- OVA tournament Fees ($40+tax, per athlete, per event)
- OVA Provincial Championships (TBA)
    - 2 day event at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto
- National Championships (TBA)
   - 3 day event at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto


The club will identify a total of 12-15 teams.   The clubs determination of what age groups (12U-18U) will be represented at various age groups will be based on the individual athlete assessments at tryouts.

Teams will train in cohorts (assigned courts) organized by skill levels.

The 2021 Season

Cohorts will train together at the Kanata Sensplex Beach courts twice a week.  During the school year, training will be on Mondays and Thursdays 4-6pm and 9am-12pm during the summer break.

All Teams will be required to compete in a minimum of 3 OVA beach Tour events throughout the summer.  For details on the OVA competition schedule, please visit for the latest tour event dates and locations.

Teams will also be encouraged to participate in the MaxVolley youth tournaments located in Ottawa on weekend when OVA events are not scheduled.
