Fusion COMPETE
OFVC has been very successful in representing Ottawa in the competitive volleyball community in Ontario, Canada and Internationally.
The club has a different set of teams in the club every season, depending on availability of coaches and athlete participation, however every season, the club has at least 8 girls teams and 5 boys teams for athletes ranging 11-18 years old (some exceptions may be applied).
Tryouts are normally held in early-mid September and the competitive season runs from the week following tryouts in September to May of the following year - a total of 8 months. Athletes that make the teams are asked to commit to 2 or 3 practices a week, as well as occasional additional practices for physical and mental training, team building and travel days.
Depending on the training plan the coach has for the team, the team will participate in 4-8 one-day OVA (Ontario Volleyball Association) tournaments, normally held in the GTA, Kingston and Ottawa areas on Saturdays and occasionally Sundays (starting in 2021). The results in those tournaments would then rank them for the Provincial Championship held at the end of April. The Provincial Championship is typically held in Waterloo and lasts 3 days. The team may also travel to attend Nationals at the beginning of May as well as additional international tournaments at the discretion of the coach and team parents.
