A long winter has passed, and the sure sign of spring is our trip to Waterloo for the Provincials. We all headed out Thursday afternoon for a clear sunny drive to our hotel in Waterloo. Being on the late shift for play allowed for a good nights sleep. This proved to be beneficial as we ended the Preliminaries being first in our pool with all 3 matches in the Win column. (Against Pegasus, Etobicoke and Orillia)
Day two started out much the same way, with our traditional “group“ breakfast and off to the gym for an afternoon in the Power Pools. This day ended on a high note also – after some very close and hard fought matches we ended the day 2nd in our Pool.
On to the Semi Finals on Sunday exhausted and sore - we fought hard to the end. Although this day did not end well as hoped, we still played well for the most part.
Even though the score board did not show it in our final match for the medal rounds – our passion was clear. As the official Scorekeeper in this match, I was quite proud when the referee mentioned to me, and I quote:
“These ladies are a credit to the game of volleyball. Both teams should be very proud of themselves. Well done.”
It was time go home; we ended the day 5th in the division and 1st in our parents/ cheering squads hearts.
Even Spring is unpredictable – we looked into the parking lot to head for home, and it appeared as though it was January again. A blizzard was upon us and only lasted for minutes. The sun came back out and we left Waterloo behind to begin preparing for Nationals East.
