Ottawa Fusion Well Represented at OVA Summer Programs

The Regional Team Training Centre is an important step in the OVA's Athlete Development Pyramid.  It is a regionally-driven program for athletes born 1994 or later.  Satellite tryouts were held in Ottawa, Kingston and Pembroke with invited athletes participating in a final tryout in Ottawa, June 6 for girls and June 12 for boys.

Several Fusion Girls have been successful in earning spots in this year's regional program:  Viktoria Bojilova, Amanda Harvey, Brenda LiTenneille Antoine, Haroula Giovanopoulos, Anna Harman, and Charlotte Illingworth.

Fusion Boys participating in the program include: Jeremy Cote, Eric Donders, Christian Delorme, Jonathan Turcotte, Jesse Ward-Bond, Mitchell Wheatley, Georges Ibrahim, Warren Taylor, Gilad Streiner, Nathan Biernat,

We are also well represented on the Region 6 coaching staff for the summer.  Linden Leung (Fusion Girls 15U Red & 17U) will be a head coach for the Girls' Ontario Summer Games team, Deb Price (Fusion Girls 15U Purple & Boys 16U Purple) will be an assistant coach for the girls' team, and Matt Harris (Fusion 16U & 17U Boys) will be an assistant coach for the Boys' Ontario Summer Games team.  Former NCVC athlete Lauren Carter will also be an assistant coach for the Boys' Training team.

For 17U and 18U athletes, the High Performance Centre is the second last stage in the OVA's Athlete Development Pyramid.  Each summer, the top 80 athletes (40 women, 40 men) are chosen to participate in the training program from which the Provincial teams are selected.  This year, three of our Fusion Athletes were selected to attend the HPC: Gabriel Aaron, Yasmeen Dawoodjee and Kelsey Wolfenden.

Congratulations to all our athletes and coaches.  Best of luck in the summer's endeavours.
