15U Purple

15U Girls Purple - Disappointed but Positive (PHOTOS)

The long-awaited Nationals in Sherbrooke, Quebec had Purple ready to put together all they had learned throughout a challenging season.  Training included supplementary sessions with RMC coaching staff and a few exhibition games to hone both physical and psychological skills.

In what was to be a positive - albeit disappointing – experience, the girls fought hard to stay in every set with quick feet, soft hands, and big hearts.  Although the string of losses, including some near wins, to teams from Brossard, Fredericton, Hamilton, Pembroke, Moncton, and St. Georges meant an early exit from the tournament, it was a weekend of many lessons for players, coaches, and parents alike.  Confidence, consistency, and communication were the order of the day.  They were factors, elusive at times during the weekend, that Purple continued to develop over the season, but which remain priority objectives.

As the season comes to a close, many thanks go out to Deb and Dougal, coaches who have shown skill, patience, and a sense of humour; to the players, who have demonstrated great character, hard work, and determination; and to the parents, who have been wonderful organizers, menu-planners, photographers, on-court helpers, and leaders of the cheer.

This fledgling team has come a long way, and game results notwithstanding, it was a wonderful season!

GO PURPLE!
