On the 6th of March, the 14U Girls team participated in a high school tournament for Grade 9's and 10's. Unlike most tournaments we have gone to, we didn't have to travel far because it was hosted here in Ottawa.
We got to the gymnasium at around 7:30 am to warm up for our first match at 8:30am. In our first match we played Franco-Ouest. Now since we were a competitive team, most of us went into this tournament thinking that winning would be easy. Well I think we got a little too cocky because in our very first match, well, let's just say we didn't play to our potential. We ended up losing the first game 12-25. In the next game we started pulling ourselves together and won 25-22. Let me tell you that it was not as easy as we thought it would be.
The next match we played was right after our first one and it was against, St Peter. Once again our first game wasn't our best but we managed to come close to beating the other team at 22-25. The second game had a better outcome and we won 25-13. This match was very well played even if the outcome wasn't all positive for our team, we played well.
Next we had a match off and we all went to go eat some food. Then we headed back out onto the court to play against Bell. Successfully we won both sets this time, 25-13 and 25-18. The team played exceptionally well this whole match. Not one person was playing their own game. Every one of us were focused on the game in front of us and that is why we won this match.
We all had a very quick break and then got right back on the court to play South Carleton. In both games we gave all we had and it showed in the results because we won both, 25-7 and 25-17. After all these games we went into playoffs in 2nd place.
We played St Peter, who was in 3rd place and we had another victory with the first game being, 25-12 and the second, 25-23. Our team was doing very well and we were going onto the gold medal match. We were excited when we heard we got to play Franco-Ouest again because we took one set off them the first match. We fought hard but that just wasn't good enough to beat them. The first set we lost 22-25. In the second set we didn't have very good results and lost 7-25.
I would say we did very well in this tournament.
