A successful tournament in December found our 17U Girls making the trip to St. Catharines to play in their first Premier Division tournament. We came into the tournament ranked 12th and, after a strong showing, came out ranked 7th.
Our first match against the Predators showed us what it's like to play with the best teams in the province. It took 3 games but Fusion finally prevailed. Our next match found us facing one of the top ranked teams, Element. While we lost this one in 2, we made them work for every point. Scores were close at 24-26, 21-25. We found ourselves second in our pool and off to the playoff round.
In our first match, we took on Peel Selects 93, winning in 2 games. Forest City Green was up next. We split the first two games and missed a chance to play for top four by a score of 15-17 in the third. Our final match found us ending the day as we started it, against the Predators. This time, the Predators took it in 3 very close games - 25-22, 22-25, 13-15.
A very respectable finish for our first time out. We now know what we need to work on in order to keep our place in Premier.
Thanks to all our drivers, photographers, fans and lines keepers (aka our parents) for their support. And a big thank you to Cathy and Linden for all their hard work and patience.
