18U Provincial Cup, Ottawa, December 5, 2009

The first 18U tournament, the Provincial Cup, was held in our home city on December 5th, 2009.  We had only 9 players, 3 of whom were new to the team.
In our first match against the Pegasus Diggers, we won in 2 easy games (25:13; 25:13).

The second match against the North Bay Wildcats was a harder one. Though we were ahead at different times, and played especially well in the second game, it was not enough to pull off the win, losing both, 19:25 and 26:28. In our third pool game we faced the Northumberland Breakers. It was a close match but after a long fight, taking it to three games, we lost 25:23, 19:25 and 9:15.

We faced the North Bay Blizzards in our initial play off match. We did not play our best but still managed to win in two (25:21; 25:21). The rest of our matches were a re-run of the morning  as we faced the Wildcats again, in the semis. This time their dominance was more obvious and we dropped both games (16:25; 15:25).

In the bronze medal match, it was our chance for revenge as we played against the Breakers again. And revenge was sweet. We took bronze with a score of 25:18 and 25:17.
